New Hampshire native Marc Chauvin talks about life in the mountains.
As a mountain guide Marc loves to spend as much time in the mountains as possible. A longtime resident of the Mount Washington Valley, he definitely knows his way around the trails and mountains of New Hampshire. Cathedral Ledge and Whitehorse will be where you can find him guiding rock climbing on most sunny days. On the rainy days look for him out in the White Mountains running the myriad of trails that wind up into the high peaks. With little more than a small fanny pack and his running shoes Marc often goes out for a run that will last all day, covering huge chunks of the Presidential Range.
I caught up with Marc on a short run up to the summit of Black Cap, right up the road from North Conway Village. Black Cap is a great “flat” trail that starts at the top of Hurricane Mountain Road. In under 2 miles the trail brings you right to a wide open summit overlooking Mount Washington Valley.
If you’re looking for more information on what Marc does when he’s not trail running check out his blog at Chauvin Guides it will also give you some great up to date info on the ice and snow conditions throughout the winter.
