I was recently in Tuckerman Ravine photographing the aftermath of a big avalanche that ripped off the Headwall. The crown line was about 9 feet deep and it ran from the left side of Sluice all the way across the headwall. The debris ran almost out into the trail. This time of year everyone is always iching to get out of the house. From Pinkham Notch it takes about an hour and half to get up to the Hut at Hermit Lake and then another half hour from there into the floor of Tuckerman Ravine. Do a check on the avalanche conditions before you head out, often times there’s a ton more snow in the Ravine then anywhere else. For more photographs click on the image.
YOu can still ski to the parking lot on the Sherburne trail as of today.
